? Highlights of This Tour!
“ALTERNATIVE-STATE”
An art project that invites one artist to Beppu every six months to create a total of eight works. On this tour, you can experience some of them! Why not take this opportunity to explore all eight works scattered across Beppu? (All works scheduled for completion: February 2026)
“Kiyoshima Apartment”
A former boarding house built shortly after World War II, consisting of three buildings with 22 rooms. Today, it serves as both a residence and a creative space for artists and creators.
Mixed Bathing World Executive Committee
(Secretariat: NPO BEPPU PROJECT)
Founded in 2008 with the goal of hosting an international art festival in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.
The term “Mixed Bathing World” expresses our philosophy of sharing time and space with a diverse range of people—across nationalities, genders, and generations.
The secretariat, NPO BEPPU PROJECT, is based in Beppu City and has invited artists from Japan and abroad to create works during their stay, hold exhibitions and workshops, and integrate art into the city.
They also regularly organize guided tours of artworks and events where visitors can interact with artists, creating spaces where people and the city connect through art.
